What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sustainability Manager position at Palmetto Goodwill?
The Sustainability Manager will support the development, implementation, promotion and monitoring of environmental strategies and goals for Palmetto Goodwill's recycling program to reduce the environmental impact.
- Develops and establishes strong business relationships with recycling vendors and other business accounts.
- Provide and develop energy conservation programs to manage energy/utility consumption further reduce/better within the organization.
- Identifies trends and opportunities for organizational improvement by collecting and analyzing data on sustainability initiatives with key internal stakeholders.
- Ensure successful delivery of recycling and solid waste operations, including the receiving processing and marketing of all recyclables.
- Ensures that all recyclables are disposed of in a responsible manner.
- Assesses, evaluates, establishes, and develops new business opportunities. Ensures projects meet strategic goals.
- Maintains an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target markets.
- Researches and develops list of potential salvage/recycling vendors while exploring new markets and opportunities.
- Develop regular updates, presentations, and reports related to all recycling initiatives.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, available to open and/or close assigned retail location as required, make bank deposits and secure building to ensure success of the operation.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies at any time as needed.
Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Compliance, Environmental Policy, Economics, or related field. Sound understanding of environmental, economic, social and governance issues. Strong research skills and ability to analyze, interpret data and create reports. Superior interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities while also working independently and in a team environment with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as externally. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from donors, vendors, and employees using tact, courtesy, and cooperativeness. Exceptional decision-making skills while demonstrating a strategic and objective approach to all opportunities. Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information. Must have experience and sound working knowledge of general office equipment and computers to include Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Office, Excel, Power Point), data-based programs and internet.
