Job Scope/Purpose:
The Safety Technician is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for employees in a variety of industries. This position involves working closely with employees, supervisors, management and customers to identify, evaluate, and eliminate safety hazards. The Safety Technician also creates and implements safety programs, provides safety training, and conducts safety inspections. Additionally, this position serves as the liaison between the field personnel and the Safety Department facilitating clear communication and the enforcement of safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Inspect facilities, equipment, and operations to identify potential safety hazards
- Provide safety training to employees and management on a regular basis
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans
- Monitor safety performance in the workplace and provide feedback to employees and management
- Maintain safety records and documentation
- Develop safety incentive programs
- Provide input and assistance in the development of safety budgets
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in occupational safety or related field is preferred
- At least 3 years of experience in a safety role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Work Environment:
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively.- Must be able to lift and carry (up to 60 pounds) up and down multiple flights of stairs.
- Must be able to enter confined spaces through a manhole.
- Must not be afraid of heights.
- Must be safety conscious and have a good work ethic.
