Job Description
Role: Nurse Practitioner Or Physician's Assistant
Responsibilities:
- Provide primary health care within the guidelines of written protocols, adhering to established nursing standards, procedures, and practices.
- Conduct physical examinations and interpret medical history.
- Treat and help patients manage acute and chronic illnesses.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.
- Record physical findings and formulate plans and prognoses based on patient conditions.
- Collaborate with Physicians to prepare comprehensive patient care plans as necessary.
- Prescribe or recommend medications or other forms of treatment.
- Counsel and educate patients.
- Ensure all diagnoses (ICD-10) are coded accurately and documented appropriately to support the diagnosis at each visit.
- Function independently and responsibly with minimal need for supervision.
- Maintain medical records using EPIC.
- Demonstrate initiative in achieving individual, team, and organizational goals and objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role at Palmetto Internal Medicine & Primary Care, PA will:
- Have clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in geriatric, adult, or family practice settings, or as a Physician Assistant.
- Be a new graduate Nurse Practitioner with a minimum of 3 years of Registered Nurse work experience, or a recently certified Physician Assistant.
- Be certified as a Nurse Practitioner through ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) or AANP (American Association of Nurse Practitioners) for adult, family, and/or geriatrics, or hold certification as a Physician Assistant.
This candidate should be compassionate, energetic, and self-motivated, ready to join a team dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
Education :
Master's or Doctorate Degree - Nurse Practitioner Degree
Completion of NP license.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited program as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current active license in the SC state
- Unrestricted DEA (license to prescribe narcotics / level II info here) per state regulations (unless prohibited in state of practice)
- Effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
- Proficient computer skills including the ability to document medical information with written and electronic medical records
- Outstanding organization skills and ability to multi-task
- Initiative, problem-solving ability, adaptability, and flexibility
- Ability to collaborate with professional colleagues as necessary to provide quality care
- Ability to consistently present a friendly, welcoming, and professional public-facing appearance
- Understanding of Geriatrics and Chronic Illness
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
South Carolina Official Recognition Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant licensure.
Board certification by AANP or ANCC, in Adult, Family Practice, and Geriatrics or Adult-Gerontology
South Carolina Controlled Substance License; Federal DEA license
Prescriptive Authority South Carolina Nursing License
