What are the responsibilities and job description for the Now Hiring Preschool Cook position at Palmetto Preschool & Learning Center?
Join the Palmetto Preschool-Carolina Forest team as our Preschool Cook! This role is essential to ensuring our children have nutritious meals and snacks in a safe, organized, and friendly environment. Must be willing to help in classroom as needed and drive the bus for afterschool as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, portion, and serve meals and snacks
- Follow dietary guidelines and accommodate allergies as needed
- Delivers meals to classrooms and helps cleanup.
- Stores food before and after serving.
- Responsible for washing and sterilizing dishes, pots and utensils.
- Washes countertops and sinks daily.
- Cleans refrigerator, freezer and cupboards as necessary.
- Sweeps and mops kitchen area; cleans and washes oven and refrigerator, takes out trash from kitchen area.
- Follows monthly rotating meal menus as written. Reports any deviations to the leadership team.
- Takes inventory of pantry contents/creates food distributor orders as necessary.
- Cleans common areas: restroom, common areas and staff lounge daily.
- Covers lunch breaks daily for teaching staff as necessary.
- Drive the afterschool bus daily during the school year.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications:
- Must have High School degree or GED and be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to multitask and keep a clean, organized workspace
- Prior experience in a preschool and/or preschool kitchen preferred
- Must have valid driver's license and clear driving record
- Friendly attitude and ability to work well with a team
- Is enthusiastic about preparing nutritious meals for children, independent in responsibility, manages time efficiently.
- Reports to work on time.
- Job requires standing for extended periods of time, as well as bending, sitting, sweeping, mopping, lifting up to 40 lbs
