JOB PURPOSE
A Systems Engineer Supervisor is responsible for a team who resolves escalated service issues, coaches team members to resolutions, engineers and implements complex projects, and maintains and oversees the technology of their assigned accounts. This role is a key position within the IT department and will be called upon to resolve the highest level technical issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads, supervises, and develops team members
- Provide technical services and support for the following areas:
- Network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
- Internal systems, cloud and network infrastructure.
- Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint
- Virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft
- Remote access solution support: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
- Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications
- Work escalated support issues related to Microsoft's core business solutions, WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, security, and remote access solutions.
- Perform network assessments, security audits and new client consultations
- Participate in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review
- Work with End User projects, identify new products and solutions, and research solutions
- Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure
- Communication with end users as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
- Be available for other team members and coach them to resolution
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include:
- BS in technical field. MS Preferred. Will consider relevant work experience in lieu of education
- 10 year’s experience in a related working environment.
- Hyper-V, vSphere, SQL, and Terminal Services
- Exchange Server 2003 – 2016
- Windows Server 2003 – 2016
- SharePoint
- WAN Technology (MPLS, VPLS, VPN)
- VPN connectivity troubleshooting and configuration (Cisco, OpenVPN).
- Security software such as Anti-virus, Anti-SPAM, Anti-Spyware, and other security related technologies
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an operational office environment to include on-call.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: Sitting for extended periods of time; use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, sorter, power tools, and to handle other computer components; occasional climbing or bending to inspect cables in floors and ceilings; lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
