Qualifications
Education: A.A. degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience and Training:
• Any combination of formal and informal training, experience and education which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. A typical qualifying entrance background is four years of responsible staff and secretarial work experience, including one year at an executive secretarial or similar level
• Strong computer skills required
• Current history of employer evaluations with satisfactory marks in all areas
• Knowledge of personnel policies and practices desirable
Responsibilities
Under direction of the Director of Classified Human Resources performs administrative work of above-average difficulty requiring initiative, judgment, and organizational ability. Implement programs that support recruitment, assessment, hiring and placement. Exercise considerable creativity, initiative, and judgment in resolving program, research and communications challenges.
Specific Duties Include:
• Deliver duties as Classified Human Resources departmental receptionist; making referrals, appointments, arranging meetings, and receiving and transmitting confidential information
• Maintain detailed calendar of events, due dates, and schedules to ensure that tasks and activities occur as scheduled
• Prepare job opening notices and oversee distribution to district and recruiting sites
• Ensure that all advertising for classified positions is directed to the appropriate markets and media, including the Internet, for obtaining desired skills and abilities
• Schedule job interviews, notify candidates of hiring status, prepare new hire job offers and process new hire paperwork for payroll, HR database and benefits distribution
• Assist with keeping HR website up-to-date
• Conduct testing and background verification of candidates for classified positions
• Track pre-employment requirements, including fingerprinting, tuberculin testing, etc.
