What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Tech-Certified position at Palo Pinto General Hospital?
Job Summary: Maintain a consistent high standard of supplies, ensure that the department will meet or exceed the AAMI, ANSI, IAHCSMM, JCAHO and other regulatory requirements and be maintained in a cost-effective manner. Applies ascetic techniques to daily work assignments. Maintains a safe environment through the sterilization process. Examines equipment for defects and reports problems as required. Monitor all sterilization processing and biological or mechanical tests and results for sterilizers throughout the Perioperative Area. Ensure all instruments are clean and sterile. Performs manual and mechanical cleaning prior to sterilization. Assembles instrument sets. Package instrumentation. Ensures necessary supplies are available for the Sterile Processing Department. Identifies and assesses areas that need to be improved and participates in process improvement as needed. Conscientiously applies contamination control measures. Notifies Director of any regarding any malfunctioning of sterilizers, equipment or shortages of supplies. Will comply with all safety guidelines
Qualifications/Reporting:
Required minimum education: High School graduate or equivalent. Graduation from a school or program teaching sterile processing techniques and training.
Required minimum experience: Preferred: At least 1-year experience.
Required skills (if applicable): Requires the ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions. Experience and knowledge in decontamination & sterilization techniques are required.
Required license/certification: CRCST is required at time of hire.
