Job Description
This position is responsible for performing various administrative and patient care functions. The ideal candidate will provide outstanding customer service, ensuring a smooth patient flow process by handling tasks such as admissions, financial counseling, billing, scheduling, paperwork completion, and basic explanation of procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Registration: Performs registration processes, verifies insurance coverage, and obtains authorization notifications.
- Billing and Customer Service: Serves as a liaison between patients, the billing department, and payors to enhance account receivables and resolve outstanding issues.
- Scheduling: Responsible for scheduling patients, families, procedures, and physician appointments.
- Patient Flow Optimization: Utilizes effective customer service communication skills to ensure positive patient response to service.
- Medical Records Management: Maintains medical records, ensures they are pulled and ready daily, and assists in obtaining needed records from other departments.
- Preparation for Exam and Treatment: Updates patient information, reports condition changes to team leads or providers, and assists with interpreter services.
- Environmental Maintenance: Maintains a clean and functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of counters, lobby, computers, phones, break rooms, and storage areas.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Experiential training in medical front office and insurance billing procedures.
- Ability to perform basic math functions and assemble data into reports using spreadsheet programs.
- Handling confidential information and sensitive issues.
- Working under minimal supervision and making independent decisions.
- Excellent communication, human relations, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Multitasking activities.
- Communicating effectively to various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous medical office and/or billing experience in a healthcare setting.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
- Two or more years working with patient flow and/or similar medical office work and knowledge of medical terminology.
