Qualifications:
- Arizona CDL and School Bus Driver Certificate.
- Post high school education plus experience and/or training in school
transportation, vehicle repair, building maintenance, and supervision.
- Has ability to perform, schedule and lead others in the maintenance of vehicles,
grounds, and buildings.
- Possesses physical health equal to pressures of a heavy schedule and ability to lift
100 lbs.
- Knowledge of safety standards and government regulations.
Reports to:
- The Business Manager
Job Goal:
- To maintain the physical school facilities and grounds, including the school buses,
vehicles, and all school-owned equipment, in a condition of operating excellence,
cleanliness, and safety, so that full educational use of them may be made at all
times.
Performance Responsibilities
Responsibilities should include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Supervises, performs, schedules, and inspects the work of the maintenance,
mechanical and grounds employees.
- Designs and supervises a preventive maintenance program for all school-owned
vehicles, machinery and buildings.
- Keeps informed of transportation laws, regulations and proper procedures.
- Maintains records of repairs, costs, vehicle warranties, etc. for the purpose of
documenting required information and meeting federal and state requirements.
- Diagnoses potential vehicle malfunctions and makes necessary repairs or
replacement of parts and/or recommends appropriate service from outside vendor.
- Inspects vehicles, facilities, buildings, systems and their components for the
purpose of ensuring safety and cleanliness, and identifying necessary repairs.
- Repairs various items, systems and/or components (e.g. plumbing, electrical, door
locks, equipment, etc.) to ensure items are available and in safe working order.
- Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, broken window, fights,
etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns.
- Issues all requests for equipment and supplies for the department, coordinating
requests for resources with the Business Manager.
- Assists in the preparation of all reports relating to the positions performance
responsibilities.
- Plans and schedules bus routes.
- Provides training to apprentice employees as needed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Evaluation:
- Performance is evaluated by the Business Manager.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
- Is supervised by the Business Manager; Supervises bus drivers, maintenance,
grounds, and custodial personnel.
FLSA Status: Exempt.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
