Position Summary: Responsible for chemotherapy mixology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Order all medications necessary for everyday operation for the center on a daily basis
- Order of supplies for the use of the Mix Room and Nursing Station.
- Keep accurate counts of drugs in the Nucleus dispensing unit. All drugs and supplies are to be kept in a safe location according to OSHA guidelines.
- Process physician orders from the nurses in the following order.
- Receive order from nurse
- Remove drugs from Nucleus Machine
- Using Aseptic Technique – and Proper Mixology methods, compound the medication and dispense in properly labeled bags or cassettes.
- Assuring proper Name, Drug, Strength is located on the bag or cassette.
- Keep a clean and safe work area at all times, assuring safety to all employees that need access to the Mix Room.
- Clean the Vertical Flow hood at the end of every shift.
- Ultimately responsible for any duties the fall into the category of a Licensed Certified Pharmacy Technician according to the rules and regulations governed by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
- Other tasks as requested by management
- Other site specific tasks
Requirements
Qualification/Requirement:
- Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written and/or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving occasional, last-minute changes in generally standardized situations.
Education/Training/Experience:
- CPhT. (Pharmacy Technician Certification)
