Position Summary: Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical under the direction of licensed healthcare provider.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Review EHR and prepare patients records for office visits
- Maintain patient flow
- Maintain exam rooms (cleanliness and supplies)
- Go over current medications with patient at each office visit and reconcile medication list EMR
- Scan in all incoming records into patients EMR system
- Obtain vitals and other medical information from patient for office visit and enter information into EMR
- Schedule patients for follow up in office laboratory studies
- Set up and assist providers with medical examinations/bone marrow biopsy procedure
- Return patient phone calls
- Injections upon request
- Obtain Advanced Care Directive from patient and enter information in EMR system
- Obtain Plan of Care for pain from patient and enter information in EMR system
- Obtain via venipuncture and process CBC'S, CMP, PT/INRS and glucose monitoring as ordered by physician and enter information in EMR system
- Perform and/or assist with EKG'S
- Triage patients in person and on the telephone
- Answer telephone calls and messages within the same day
- Place reminder calls to all patients being seen by providers the next day (make sure this gets done prior to 4pm each day)
- Other tasks as requested by management
Requirements
Qualification/Requirement:
- Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written and/or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving occasional, last-minute changes in generally standardized situations.
Education/Training/Experience:
- Medical Assistant Certification
