Position Summary: The Patient Coordinator is responsible for relieving doctors and other medical personnel of administrative and clerical work by checking out patients and scheduling future appointments. Greets all patients presenting a warm and caring environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Greet and directs patients.
- Verify patient demographics and insurances.
- Update any changes to patient’s account in EMR.
- Checks out patients after their office visit.
- Schedules follow up appointments.
- Sends out physician orders/radiology & labs.
- Obtains prior authorizations for radiology.
- Coordinates follow up visits with outside testing that needs performed.
- Keeps x-ray and other medical records, performs secretarial tasks, and completes lab requisition forms.
- Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
- Communicates and works closely with physicians.
- Cross train with front desk personnel.
- All additional tasks as requested by management.
Requirements
Qualification/Requirement:
- Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving occasional, last-minute changes in generally standardized situations.
Education/Training/Experience:
- High school diploma or a GED
- Six months related experience and / or training
- Knowledge of EMR, medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes a plus.
