The Admissions Representative is an integral part of the Palomar Institute of Cosmetology staff, and is primarily responsible for activities related to student recruitment, enrollment, and retention. The Admissions Representative will understand all offered programs, schedules of programs, and fully understand the enrollment process.
The ideal candidate will be a polished professional with a strong background in admissions and/or recruiting. A passion and knowledge of the beauty industry is a must! This full-time position requires a work schedule of Tuesday to Saturday.
Job Responsibilities
The Admissions Representative will recruit, interview and enroll prospective students into Palomar Institute of Cosmetology’s academic programs. This role relies heavily on building relationships with prospective students to help them through the enrollment process. Admissions Representatives evaluate a prospective student’s needs, goals and career outcomes to identify if the Palomar Institute of Cosmetology has the appropriate academic program, environment and services for the individual.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Represent Palomar Institute of Cosmetology to prospective students and their families.
- Successfully work within a team-oriented, scripted environment to conduct phone, video and/or face-to-face interviews.
- Conduct in-person informational appointments, tours and student shadow days.
- Outreach/communication/follow-up with prospective students (phone, email, text, etc.).
- Build Relationships and work with the prospective student and their family through the entire admissions process.
- Organize and facilitate Open Houses for prospective students and their families.
- Manage prospective student database.
- Register new, transferring and re-enrolling students including overview of all paperwork, schedule, and updates in computer system.
- Work closely with financial aid department to resolve any enrollment challenges.
- Maintain communication with prospective students up until they begin coursework.
- Assist in planning, organizing and attending special events for the college.
- Provide professional leadership and top-level customer service always.

- Possess skills in speaking effectively to others to convey information.
- Ability to manage, understand and report on data for institutional enrollment purposes.
- Must be a motivated team player to work in a team environment.
- Effective time management skills to plan, organize and prioritize work.
- Self-starter who is comfortable working with diverse populations. Must be outgoing and willing to interact with diverse prospective students in a variety of settings along with their parents and/or family.
- Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to carry, lift or pull materials needed for High School or Community Events (up to 30 pounds).
- Must be able to set up display materials and table.
- Ability to travel to offsite events with reliable transportation.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, kneel and twist.
- Bi-Lingual in Spanish a plus.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma; some post-high school education preferred.
- 2-4 years related work experience, preferably in outreach, admissions, or recruiting.
- Experience in a Cosmetology school setting preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
Licensure/Certification
- Ability to travel on occasion - National Association Meetings Annually
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
