Purpose
Pamlico County Schools is seeking a passionate and skilled Electrical Trades Teacher to join our exceptional Trades and Industry team. Though small, our district takes pride in its strong Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, dedicated teachers and collaborative culture. This position is ideal for an electrical professional eager to inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Pamlico County’s Trades Program has a rich tradition of preparing students for successful careers in career and technical education areas. We aim to build on that foundation by adding a talented educator to our team. Under general direction of a principal, provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. Provides supervision to students in a variety of school related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, develops, selects or modifies lesson plans to ensure all student needs are met and maintains appropriate records and follows all policies and procedures of NCDPI and Pamlico County Schools Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of residential and commercial electrical industry; assesses and encourages student progress, manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, Associates degree or Bachelors degree
  • Candidates must have or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator License in the area of Construction (74026)


Required Years of Work Experience for Alternative Licensure Route

  • 6 years with High School Diploma or GED, 4 years with Associates or 2 years with Bachelors


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and teach a competency-based CTE program in electrical trades
  • Instruct students and assist in their learning of the skills and knowledge of electrical wiring in the construction industry
  • Demonstrate effective classroom and computer lab management
  • Assist in coordination of CTE Student Organization activities for local, regional, state and/or national competition
  • Participates in field trips to post-secondary institutes, worksites, businesses and hands-on workshops
  • Assist in development of and participate in activities designed to promote an innovative business and technology program
  • Develop community and industry partnerships for students


Skills and Abilities

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, assign, and review the work of others
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers


Special Requirements

  • Valid drivers license
  • Prior to employment, OSHA 10-hour Safety/Construction Course
  • To continue employment after hiring, NCCER Instructor Certified Training Program for Craft Professionals (CTE will provide this training)
