Purpose
Pamlico County Schools is seeking a passionate and skilled General Construction/Carpentry Teacher to join our exceptional Trades and Industry team. Though small, our district takes pride in its strong Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, dedicated teachers and collaborative culture. This position is ideal for a construction and/or carpentry professional eager to inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Pamlico County’s Trades Program has a rich tradition of preparing students for successful careers in career and technical education areas. Under general direction of a principal, provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. Provides supervision to students in a variety of school related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, develops, selects or modifies lesson plans to ensure all student needs are met and maintains appropriate records and follows all policies and procedures of NCDPI and Pamlico County Schools Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of Architecture & Construction and Information Technology Education; assesses and encourages student progress, manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.
Qualifications
- Candidates must have or be eligible for North Carolina Professional Educator license in the area of Construction (74026)
Required Years of Work Experience for Alternative Licensure Route
- 6 years with High School Diploma or GED, 4 years with Associates or 2 years with Bachelors
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and teach a competency-based CTE program in carpentry and/or other construction pathways
- Demonstrate effective classroom and computer lab management
- Exposes students to career opportunities in carpentry, construction and related fields and prepares students for industry-recognized certifications in carpentry and construction
- Assist in coordination of CTE Student Organization activities for local, regional, state and/or national competition
- Participates in field trips to post-secondary institutes, worksites, businesses and hands-on workshops
- Assist in development of and participate in activities designed to promote an innovative business and technology program
- Develop community and industry partnerships for students

Special Requirements
- Valid drivers license
- Prior to employment, OSHA 10-hour Safety/Construction Course
- To continue employment after hiring, NCCER Instructor Certified Training Program for Craft Professionals (CTE will provide this training)
