Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst with strong expertise in SQL and a solid financial background to join our team in Jersey City, NJ. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders, analyze financial data, and provide insights that drive business decisions. This role requires a deep understanding of financial reporting, data analysis, and process optimization within the financial sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write, optimize, and execute complex SQL queries to extract and analyze financial data. Work with large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and key business insights and Ensure data integrity and accuracy by validating financial reports and reconciliations.
- Develop financial models, forecasts, and reports to support decision-making.
- Work closely with accounting, treasury, and finance teams to optimize reporting processes.
- Identify inefficiencies in financial operations and propose automation solutions using SQL and BI tools.
- Assist in the development of dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to enhance data workflows and reporting capabilities.
- Act as a bridge between business, finance, and IT teams to ensure clear communication of requirements.
- Document functional and technical specifications for financial reporting and analytics.
- Conduct gap analysis and recommend solutions to improve financial processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Required 3-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in a financial domain.
- Strong SQL skills ability to write complex queries, joins, and stored procedures.
- Experience with financial analysis, accounting principles, or investment banking.
- Familiarity with ETL processes, data warehouses, and financial reporting tools.
- Proficiency in BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar visualization platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in banking, capital markets, asset management, or financial services.
- Knowledge of Python, R, or other scripting languages for data analysis is a plus.
- Exposure to cloud-based financial data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is beneficial.
