This position functions under the leadership and general guidance of the Chief of Police. This is a position requiring manual labor duties of skilled and semiskilled nature. Tasks will involve minor maintenance tasks, cleaning, building care, moving small items and other supporting functions within and involving the Police Department building and team members. This position may also be a broader member of the facilities maintenance team and perform duties in multiple locations involving construction, repair, carpentry and other trade-related duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Perform minor repairs and maintenance functions within the Police Dept.Assists with hanging items and program initiatives in and around Police Dept.Assist in moving items within Police Dept.Assists in displaying decorations for holidays.Utilizes various hand and small power tools to make repairs to structures and build basic components necessary within the facilities team.Load, secure and unloads equipment, supplies, tools and materials.Assemble and move various types of furniture and cabinetry.Perform basic repairs on furniture and equipment.Paint, patch and other construction type repairs.Mows, fertilizers, trims shrubs, repair sprinklers and trims grass.Performs other general manual labor work. Picks up trash and debris.Perform custodial duties such as cleaning windows, bathrooms, vacuuming and cleaning carpets, dusting, emptying trash cans, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of tools and equipment used in manual labor work. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions in a cooperative, positive and team-focused manner. Sufficient physical strength to perform heavy manual labor work.Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative and team-focused working relationships with team members, leadership, other departments and the general public.Knowledge and skills in building repair and maintenance.Ability to work at heights and uneven surfaces, including but not limited to ladders.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two (2) years experience in manual labor maintenance and/or construction work desired. Valid Driver’s License.
