Purchasing Agent

The Printing Purchasing Agent is involved with management in negotiating pricing of major consumables such as paper, plates and ink, and is independently responsible for negotiating pricing on smaller consumable items. Experience with purchasing of paper for web and sheet fed presses is highly sought. Responsible for the daily placing of orders with vendors for all needs to include consumable inventory, supplies, and equipment. Meets with vendors to communicate needs and work through issues with pricing, delivery, etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under advisement from management, conducts price negotiations with vendors.
• Places orders for inventory consumables and supplies, equipment and other needs.
• Identifies and qualifies new vendors.
• Handles supply chain needs.
• Handles claims, returns and disputes with vendors should they arise.
• Involved in inventory control.
• Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BA/BS Degree or 5 years related experience
• Experience with purchasing paper for web and sheetfed presses
• Word Processing and Spreadsheet experience helpful.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Must be able to work independently with little instruction.
• Requires good problem analysis and resolution ability.
• Must be able to handle multiple priorities.
• Must be able to read, analyze and interpret various type of correspondence, and to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers.
• Must be able to effectively present information to customers and management.
• Must be goal and deadline oriented with sharp attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must possess ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Must possess ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
