Responsibilities

Job Summary/Basic Function: The Product Engineer will manage the technical relationship with our third-party vendors and factories to support the development of Toughbook products, accessories, and third-party partners' products and accessories. These solutions can range from vehicle dock development to software development. Design reviews and weekly meetings will be conducted for each project, producing test reports, test plans, and schedule updates. To support the development of these projects, the Engineer must maintain knowledge of the Toughbook product line, the technologies used in these devices, and our third-party products. The Engineer will be heavily involved in the development process of Panasonic and third-party partners and must therefore be able to navigate both processes in depth. Ultimately, the Product Engineer will mitigate the risk of safety, compliance, and quality issues on the products produced through this process so we may provide our customers with high-quality solutions.

What You'll Get To Do

Manage Panasonic product development and evaluations

  • Communicate with Factory Engineers for specification and project updates
  • Provide technical support to Sales Engineers and Product Management
  • Manage evaluations of Toughbook products to reduce the risk of quality issues
  • Create formal test reports for product evaluations
  • Communicate with internal teams on evaluations and project updates
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to products during design review

Manage accessory and option development projects from partners and 3rd party vendors

  • Communicate with vendors and partners for specification and project updates
  • Manage evaluations of accessories and options for Toughbook products to assure Panasonic’s quality standards are upheld
  • Create formal test reports for product evaluations
  • Communicate with internal teams on evaluations and project updates
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to products during design review

Maintain project documentation and project templates

  • Manage design quality of our Panasonic and partner products throughout the development process.

Qualifications

Education & Experience: Degree required/preferred

  • Must have a BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Strong working knowledge is required:
    • MS Office Applications - MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Word
  • 2 years of Engineering experience
Required Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 10, Windows 11)
  • Experience working through the entire project lifecycle, preferably in the product development fields.
  • Understanding of computing architecture including wireless technologies (WWAN/WIFI/BT), GPS and application interfaces

Problem Solving

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to meet aggressive goals with multiple competing priorities.
  • Must be detail oriented, analytical, and organized as well as a self-starter with the ability to think creatively.
  • Effective and efficient troubleshooting, while working in potentially high-pressure circumstances.
  • Ability to manage communication with personnel inside and at outside of the company

Communications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to report and explain project updates to key stakeholders
  • Ability to manage communication with personnel inside and at outside of the company
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project; and familiar with web based reporting tools.

Other Requirements

  • Capable of lifting over 50 pounds (22.7 kg), standing for long periods on factory floors, and maneuvering in factory production environments and confined spaces to execute technical activities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (often 20%, or greater), domestically and internationally, often with short notice
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on projects and meetings

The salary range below is just one component of Panasonic Connect's total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.
