Shift: First Shift
Work Location: On-site (No Hybrid or Remote)

The Material Handler loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, or work site by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for Daily Cycle counting and inventory control counts and reporting that to Inventory Specialist and/or Supervisor.
  • Responsible for dropping inventory of MN02, Electrolytes, and Lithium every morning as well as correct documentation for the drops.
  • Responsible for handling empty Electrolytes and Lithium containers (wrapping, moving, storage, documentation, as well as removal for shipping.)
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist and cleans work area and machines.
  • Responsible for palletizing, verifying and wrapping freight. As well as following customer requirements for labeling and placards required for shipments.
  • Cleaning of warehouse areas including warehouse parking lot and around dumpsters and containers.
  • Assembles crates to contain products such as machines or vehicles.
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Verification of all inbound and out bounding product and materials from internal or external sources.
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Opens containers.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Loads outbound freight daily as well unloading inbounding trucks.
  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
  • Recharges and performs minor maintenance on the forklifts as well as daily forklift check list.
  • Deliver inbound packages to other departments daily.

Completes inventory procedures by:

  • Organizing and cycle-counting materials on hand.
  • Receives incoming materials and issues materials to the Production Departments by request. Verifies paperwork and product/materials. Reports any discrepancies.
  • Unloading incoming deliveries and stores materials in proper location, according to predetermined policies and procedures.
  • Inspecting materials received in order to verify the correct type, quantity and condition.
  • Reviewing production schedules and material orders in order to determine types and quantities of required materials and departmental priorities.
  • Locating and delivering materials to the Production department locations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two – three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer literate. Ability to operate warehouse equipment, such as tier lift truck, forklift and hand truck. Ability to drive a stick shift box truck is desired, but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
