PECNA is looking to fill the position of Fire Systems Technician II -Level 4. The main responsibilities of this position include maintenance and inspections of all fire systems within the facility. This position will also include involvement with a variety of facility operations and maintenance duties.

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, state-of-the-art factory located in the thriving city of DeSoto, Kansas.

Position Summary: PECNA is looking to fill the position of Fire Systems Technician II -Level 4. The main responsibilities of this position include maintenance and inspections of all fire systems within the facility. This position will also include involvement with a variety of facility operations and maintenance duties.

Essential Duties

  • Operate effectively in a team of fire sprinkler, fire alarm, fire extinguisher technicians conducting inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on existing systems. Facility equipment and systems include, but are not limited to: fire alarm panels, smoke detection, heat detection, manual pull stations, horn/strobe components, area speakers, duct smoke detectors, smoke/fire dampers, mass notification systems, fire pumps, fire water tank, fire riser assemblies, fire sprinklers, position-indicating valves, fire hydrants, smoke/fire doors, fire resistant insulation, and other specialty systems.
  • Complete all required inspections and preventative maintenance on various sizes and types of fire extinguishers.
  • Complete schedule of preventative maintenance, testing, and repair work for fire and life-safety systems, assessing for any deficiencies and requirements for corrective action measures. Ensure accuracy and maintenance of fire systems documentation.
  • Compile and maintain a daily report of on-site issues.
  • Quickly respond to queries, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues that arise from the field with engineering support.
  • Provide input for lessons learned, and for the development of templates and standards for future phases/projects.
  • Support production and facility systems inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assist the local fire authorities, public agencies, and third-party vendors to ensure compliance with the facility’s fire management protocol.
  • Assess the necessity for and participate in training required for department duties and all PECNA personnel.
  • Participate in all required emergency response training and operations.
  • Respond to site emergencies, coordinating with relevant teams and authorities.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and management, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations, and Panasonic policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Depending upon workload, this position may be required to assist with other Facilities duties in addition to primary responsibilities for fire and fire life-safety systems.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: A high school diploma, GED, or at least three years of experience as Fire Systems Technician or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of a relevant vocational training and/or certification program.

Essential Qualifications

  • 3 years of recent experience in relevant areas noted.
  • NICET Level I: Inspection & testing of fire alarm and water-based systems.
  • Knowledge of building fire protection standards, system types (fire alarm, dampers, dry/wet, standpipes, fire hydrants, and fire suppression), sequence of operations, emergency procedures, and fire watch procedures.
  • OSHA 10
  • HAZWOPER 8

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Level II: Inspection & testing of fire alarm and water-based systems.
  • 5 years of recent experience in relevant areas noted.
  • Associate or Bachelor in a Fire Protection-related discipline from an accredited college or university, including degrees in engineering fields that are applied to the practice of fire protection.
  • Examples include degrees in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, Fire Protection Technology, and Fire Service Administration.
  • Examples of engineering fields that are frequently applied to the practice of fire protection include, but are not limited to, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Electrical engineering.
  • Additional examples of applicable degrees include Business, Human Resources, and Project Management.

Preferred License(s)

  • Current state-issued driver's license with a CDL.

Preferred Certification(s)

  • NFPA 70E or NFPA 70B
  • OSHA 30
  • HAZWOPER 24
  • ICS 100 and 200
