This includes machine maintenance, equipment cleanliness assurance, troubleshooting, and the execution of routine maintenance tasks. Additionally, as an SMT-3, responsibilities entail training colleagues to support high production standards and compliance with safety protocols.
Essential Duties
- Initiate, operate, recover, and shut down machines
- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine errors following specified escalation procedures.
- Utilize hand tools and precision measuring instruments to perform basic maintenance and uphold quality control standards.
- Execute advanced proactive and reactive maintenance activities such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), thorough cleaning, tensioning, pressure adjustments, and equipment modifications.
- Monitor operational processes, visual inspections, and quality assessments
- Maintain a clean and secure work area following the 6S principles (Sort, Shine, Set in Order, Standardize, Sustain, Safety).
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with and implementing work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Facilitate the transfer of knowledge and expertise through direct peer-to-peer training.
- Ability to meet the physical demands and the PPE requirements of the role
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Support proper implementation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment within functional area
- Ability to work all scheduled shift hours
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is mandatory including equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Pre-employment respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.
Qualifications

Education
- Required: High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or 2 years of prior experience in functional area
- 3 years of prior experience in functional area
- Proficient in the English language, encompassing adeptness in reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in sub-assemblies, drive units, and equipment rebuilds.
- 4 years of experience
- Competition of PECNA maintenance apprentice program
- Successful completion of Standard Work and Job Instruction training. A solid understanding of Kaizen and active participation in Standard Work Improvement activities
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and experienced in computer operations, with knowledge of navigating department-specific system programs.
