We are looking for a Director of Development to join a rapidly growing clean energy provider, specializing in solar and energy storage projects across key markets.

Role Overview: The Project Developer and Manager will be responsible for leading the development of solar and energy storage projects across markets including PJM, ISONE, and NYISO. You will oversee an active project pipeline, ensuring successful project delivery and managing cross-functional collaboration. This is a hands-on, leadership role that requires strong technical expertise, excellent project management skills, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead both greenfield and acquisition solar & energy storage projects through all phases of development, including due diligence, permitting, and interconnection.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to align timelines, pricing, and deliverables to meet investor and project goals.
- Drive interconnection applications, permitting processes, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring project success at every stage.
- Monitor market conditions, policy changes, and regulatory frameworks to ensure the long-term viability of projects.
- Manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring milestones are met while effectively communicating financial needs to leadership.
- Present funding requests, risk management strategies, and expected returns to senior executives.
- Work closely with the legal team to review and negotiate contracts and agreements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including finance, engineering, and construction) to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Maintain positive relationships with landowners, local stakeholders, and regulatory bodies throughout the development process.
- Ensure smooth project handoff to the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) team at the start of construction.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of proven experience in solar and/or energy storage development
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as engineering, business, or environmental science.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
