Our partner in Birmingham is looking for a Patient Financial Counselor Supervisor to oversee and support their Patient Financial Counselor team. This role is responsible for managing insurance verification, assessing patient financial requirements, and counseling patients on their benefits and payment responsibilities. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate patient information, oversee pre-authorizations, and facilitate financial assistance as needed.

Responsibilities will include:

• Lead and manage the Patient Financial Counselor team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Oversee the verification of insurance coverage, eligibility, and pre-authorization requirements.
• Ensure accurate entry of patient insurance and demographic details into the system.
• Guide patients through financial counseling, discussing out-of-pocket costs, payment plans, and billing procedures.
• Assist patients in applying for financial aid programs, such as Medicaid or pharmaceutical assistance.
• Ensure co-pays, deductibles, and other payments are collected at the time of service.
• Maintain compliance with confidentiality standards and organizational policies.
• Support front office operations as needed and ensure all required documentation is up to date.

Qualifications:

• Education: College degree or equivalent experience required.
• Supervisor experience preferred with strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in a medical office, with a strong understanding of insurance processes and patient financial interactions.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and financial assistance programs.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
