As-Needed Archaeological Monitors – Mojave, CA Area
PanGIS, Inc. (PanGIS), a California-based Cultural Heritage firm, is seeking for immediate hire several as-needed archaeological Field Technicians for our Cultural Resources Division for monitoring for a large construction project in the Mojave, CA area.
PanGIS is seeking up to 4 as-needed archaeologists to conduct archaeological monitoring in the Mojave, CA area. Mileage to and from the job site and lodging can be provided (per diem beyond hotel cost is $70 per day spent in a hotel). The job starts in February and is due to run through at least July 2025.
In accordance with the construction schedule, daily work hours will typically vary between 8 to 10 hours, depending on the construction crew’s schedule and needs. Work will typically occur Monday through Saturday, with Sundays off. Single-occupancy lodging and per diem are covered seven days a week, if monitors work multiple weeks in a row. Preferred if you can work whole weeks, but will occasionally may need staff to work only Saturdays.

Hourly wages will be based on qualifications and / or experience. Expected starting pay range of $27 to $32 per hour. Overtime is paid at paid at time-and-a-half.

Minimum Requirements for As-Needed Archaeologist :
- Work collaboratively with a construction crew to ensure safe and efficient monitoring practices.
- Must be currently enrolled in (or have previously completed) college-level classes towards a degree in anthropology, archaeology, history of California, Native American studies, or a closely related field
- A minimum of 1 year of experience conducting archaeological fieldwork that includes monitoring and survey, in-field artifact analysis, or site documentation
- Ability to identify artifacts, cultural features, and archaeological sites
- Ability to use Survey123 for monitoring logs and FieldMaps
- Possess a valid Driver’s License and 3 years clean driving record
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to hike over uneven ground
