Key Role in Milling Process
MILL OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean, temper and mill wheat.
- Follow safety policies and procedures.
- Perform sanitation tasks as required.
- Promote a safe work environment.
- E nsure food safety and defense.
- Mainain mill sifters and screens.
- Identify and repair flour and air leaks.
- Assist with other maintenance needs.
- Mainain mill purifiers and bran dusters.
- Ensure documentation requirements are met.
- Create and review cleaning procedures.
- Communicate structural or mechanical deviations.
- Understand customer specifications.
- Operate transferring equipment safely.
- Analyze milled flour.
- Safely operate lab instruments.
- Mainain bin and silo quality.
- Monitor flour additives and inventory.
- Interact with department employees.
- Conduct visual inspections.
- Train to become Shift Miller.
MILL OPERATOR QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or related experience.
- Advance degree or certifications preferred.
- Manufacturing, maintenance or mill processing experience.
- Strong reading comprehension and math skills.
- Good communication and team skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and schedules.
- Able to wear PPE.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Safety training is provided.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Team leadership skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Physical efforts such as straining, pulling and lifting.
- Exposure to noise, dust and extreme temperatures.
- Working in elevated spaces.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
