Underground Utility Skilled Laborer

Summary: Responsible for completion of semi-skilled construction tasks required to successfully complete assigned construction projects.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform semi-skilled construction tasks in major/minor construction and repair job assignments.
• Operate construction equipment and tools related to job, including but limited to jackhammers, earth tampers, concrete mixers, saws and electric/pneumatic drills.
• Follow all company and safety policies/regulations at the work site, to include OSHA and MOSH regulations.
• Take direction from Supervisor and/or Crew Leader for assigned tasks and completion deadlines.
• Assist Construction Managers Crew Leaders.
• Read blueprints and designs.
• Install and monitor traffic control devices.
• Prepare and maintain clean work zones.
• Dig trenches.
• Work underground in tunnels and sewer systems.
• Install electrical conduit, sewer, water, and storm drainpipes.
• Pour concrete and asphalt onto roads.
• Remove hazardous materials.
• Survey and maintain equipment.

Qualifications:

• Education Requirements: High School Graduate or Equivalent with Technical School Training preferred.

Related Experience:

• Minimum 3 years operation of construction equipment.

Certification Requirements:

• OSHA Training (required)
• D.O.T. Driver Certified (preferred)
• Flagging Certified (preferred)
• Heavy Equipment Operator Certified (preferred)
• Valid Driver's License with no major infractions.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, preferred bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Ability to represent the company and work professionally at all times and adapt easily to changes in job requirements, hours of work, deadlines for completion of work, etc.

Qualifications (continued):

• Physical requirements: ability to lift at least 50 lbs., ability to climb 12 foot ladders, and a willingness and ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible work schedules, including afterhours, weekends, and holidays as required to support business and customer needs.
• Willingness and ability to respond to emergency work requests 24/7.
