POSITION TITLE: Professor of English
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Full-time, 9-month position
LOCATION: Carthage, Texas
BEGINNING DATE: Negotiable
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position includes teaching a variety of English composition and literature
courses as well as College Preparatory courses in Reading and Writing.
Candidate must be willing to teach face-to-face day and evening classes both on
and off campus and online classes as needed. In addition, the candidate must
successfully perform committee assignments, prepare instructional materials for
face-to-face and online classes, participate in budgeting and assessment
activities, develop syllabi, and complete annual professional development
requirements. The candidate should show willingness to sponsor and/or support
student activities and engage in campus life outside of class responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in English. Teaching experience
at the college level preferred. Teaching experience through distance education a
plus. Must have strong communication skills, ability to work effectively with
students, faculty and staff. Must have a commitment to the philosophy of the
liberal arts program and the college.
COMPENSATION: The salary offered will be commensurate with educational background and work experience.
