Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing and Coding Specialist to join our pediatric office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, processing insurance claims, and ensuring timely reimbursement for services provided. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health of our practice and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30-4 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Medical Coding: Accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to patient diagnoses and procedures.
- Insurance Claims: Prepare and submit insurance claims to various payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
- Billing: Generate and send out patient bills, follow up on unpaid claims, and handle billing inquiries.
- Compliance: Ensure all coding and billing practices comply with federal regulations, payer policies, and office procedures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records and documentation.
- Communication: Liaise with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues and discrepancies.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports on billing activities, claim statuses, and revenue cycle performance.
- Credentialing: Verify and maintain the credentials of healthcare providers, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. This includes processing applications, conducting background checks, and maintaining accurate records of licensure, certifications, and other qualifications.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CMC, CPT, CPC, CCS) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a pediatric setting.
Skills:
- Proficiency in medical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
- Knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems

Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary work, ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity for using an adding machine/calculator and computer keyboard.

Pay: $18.50 - $27.50 per hour
