POSITION SUMMARY
This position assists the clinical team with surgical and diagnostic procedures, maintaining a sterile field, and providing support before, during and after procedural activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are a summary of the expectations of the position but are not intended to be all inclusive.
Assist clinical team with patient and procedure room preparation and post-procedure clean-up
Assists with positioning the patient, using appropriate equipment and anatomical principles to avoid patient injury
Prepare patients for procedures including but not limited to positioning patients on procedure room table
Assist in procedures by operating the C-Arm, scrub-in for procedures; clean and sterilize instruments
Maintain sterile field during procedures
Count needles, sponges and instruments as required
Track use of medications and supplies during procedures
Monitor and maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies both for the center and in the procedure room
Maintain radiology safety-monitoring procedures and support the Radiation Safety program
Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of room
Participates in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care
Ensure assigned areas are clean and stocked
Provide assistance in transporting patients within the center
Assist as needed with the effective operation of the center
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to:
Work overtime with little or no notice as needed
Work in other centers as needed
Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures
Know, understand, and comply with all Center policies and procedures
Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required; Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology (CV-IR) certification preferred
State license and/or fluoroscopic permit to practice radiologic technology if required by state law
Associate’s Degree in Science or successful completion of a formal educational program accepted by ARRT required
Experience in general diagnostic, special procedures, or cardiac catheterization with demonstrated knowledge of sterile techniques
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Word and Outlook required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical requirements can vary. The position requires the following physical activities:
Ability to lift a minimum of 5 pounds to a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted; able to stand for extended periods of time and to perform repetitive stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, with some sitting; full range of body motions required to lift patients, wear a lead apron, and lift supplies
Manual dexterity and ability to work rapidly required
Ability to lift and move patient transport devices
Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds
