Ultrasound Technician works directly with patients and physicians and operates equipment that uses high-frequency soundwaves to take images and scans of the body's internal organs.
Responsibilities include:
Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.
Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs.
Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed.
Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results.
Explains ultrasound equipment and procedures to patients.
Prepares ultrasound equipment and exam rooms for examinations.
Adheres to HIPPA requirements, including strict confidentiality of patient information and testing.
Alerts referring medical staff of any abnormalities that require immediate attention.
Operates equipment under authorized diagnostic approaches and practices.
Problem-solves and makes decisions regarding patient testing.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Qualifications:
2-year Allied Health degree.
Successful completion of an approved 1-year program in Ultrasound Technology.
Minimum 2 years of experience in the field.
