What You'll Do
This Legal General Contractor Attorney position is an integral part of the PanTeXas Deterrence, LLC (PXD) Legal department with the following responsibilities:
- Provide general legal advice on all aspects of company business; may include transactional advice regarding subcontracts and procurement matters at all stages of the acquisition process, prime contract compliance and modifications, real estate leasing or purchasing, and compliance with company’s internal procedures and policies in multiple areas;
- Draft and review contracts, licenses, and other documents related to business operations and advise the company when disputes arise under those documents;
- Draft or provide assistance in drafting policies and procedures for procurement and contracting, for the business ethics program, and for other business and compliance-related activities;
- Represent the company in routine and complex litigation, arbitration, or mediation of claims; manage or assist outside counsel engaged for significant litigation matters;
- Research and analyze case law, statutes, regulations (especially the Federal Acquisition Regulation [FAR] and the Department of Energy Acquisition Regulation [DEAR], and contracts and draft formal legal guidance on routine and complex matters;
- Provide legal advice to company senior management on policy, prime contracts and other contract interpretation issues;
- Work with management and other functional personnel on multi-disciplinary teams;
- Aid the company in responding to inquires or investigations from the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), agencies’ inspectors general, other federal agencies, members of Congress, and state and local governmental agencies; and
- Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, Security and business practice requirement and policies.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and potential admission to the Texas Bar and minimum 7 years of relevant experience. (Typical experience ranging from 10-15 years)
- Demonstrated analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Seven years of experience practicing law or using your J.D. routinely to provide support in a business environment.
- Experience and knowledge in general business law, commercial and government contract law; licensing; and real estate law.
- Experience performing legal research and drafting routines legal guidance.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Experience interacting with government agencies at the federal, state, or local level.
- Experience providing legal support to an organization that provides goods and services to the U.S. Government.
- Prior interaction with and knowledge of the DOE, NNSA, or other federal agencies and, more generally, working knowledge of federal procurement law.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to deliver legal advice and counsel in the context of the company’s strategic mission and business objectives.
- In responding to specific requests for legal advice, the ability to identify other existing legal vulnerabilities and business impacts beyond the scope of the request.
- Both the ability for, and an interest in, learning new areas of law, takin on other duties as assigned, and demonstrating flexibility.
- Experience and knowledge of the concepts and processes involved in preparing for negotiations, conducting negotiations, and counseling a client regarding development and options in a negotiation.
- Knowledge of the rules governing the practice of law, the ability to recognize and resolve ethical issues, and strict adherence to the rules of professional conduct.
- Knowledge of software applications and technologies used in a technologically sophisticated law office.
- Ability to work independently as appropriate
- Ability to travel as needed.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
