Essential Job Duties
- Expedites movement of all materials, from various places throughout the plant
- Maintains inventory of special tooling, classified parts (plastics, metals, explosives, etc.), and other components and products on the line and in magazines to ensure smooth flow of production
- Assigns and records serial numbers of all items for shipment; originates, prepares, distributes, and maintains flow of all shipping and receiving documents
- Maintains explosive piece and raw material accountability records, verifying piece number, lot number, type of material, quantity, classification, certification, location, and quantity used, using both manual and computer-based records
- Operates typewriter, adding machine, calculator, and computers
- Orders and maintains stock of office and packaging supplies
- Inspects equipment and storage buildings for defects and reports any irregularities
- Arranges for movement of equipment to proper location for calibration and preventive maintenance, and maintains files of same
- Cleans rest bays, packaging and shipping bays, storage magazines and keeps material stored properly and neatly
- Cleans and decontaminates, by approved methods, material handling equipment and containers scheduled for repair
- Packages products, materials, and equipment in accordance with DOT regulations for outgoing shipment to other agencies and installations
- Prepares Move-Order Requests for materials and equipment as required
- Performs physical inventory of materials in storage and prepares reports
- Arranges storage areas in such a manner to ensure segregation of in-process material
- Responsible for maintaining a high degree of accuracy in all job functions
- Schedules, performs, and maintains flow of own work without direct supervision
- Monitors each job, through machining and gauging, in order to meet shipping deadlines
- Responsible for adhering to Standard Operating Procedures, DOE and DOT federal regulations, and safety and security regulations
- Responsible for security, condition, and accountability of raw materials, hardware, fixtures, components, and SS material
- Held accountable for hardware, fixtures, explosives, and other raw materials stored for other agencies at Pantex
- Responsible for the handling and movement of all hazardous materials, as assigned, in all types of weather, inside and outside, working in non-temperature controlled buildings and ramps
- Submits certain required reports, conducts inventories, and compiles other data as required for accounting and auditing purposes
- Controls level of supplies, forms, and materials for efficient operations
- Responsible for care and protection of classified materials and documents in their custody
- Expedites all incoming and outgoing materials
- Handles products, equipment, and materials in accordance with safe operating procedures
- Ensures proper handling, transporting and/or storage of hazardous materials according to standards, schedules, and to facilitate location, identification, and quantities of material
Essential Job Duties Cont.
- Responsible for cleanliness and neatness of work areas (rest bays, storage buildings, and assigned magazine areas)
- Responsible for properly cleaning and decontaminating material handling equipment and containers for proper use, storage, packaging and shipment
- Properly cares for machines and equipment, reporting defects, and irregularities
- Reports any irregularities which would affect production
- Processes and checks pressing cards
- Ensures that all parts are X-rayed (accept or reject)
- Ensures materials do not remain in an out-of-control environment in excess of time limits authorized in specifications
- May train new employees
- Annually checks fluid level on all containers of wet HEs and samples each lot
- Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures
- Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2), and Management
- Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls
- Understands a worker’s right to stop work when they feel their own or other’s personal safety is jeopardized
- Attends all required safety meetings and training; offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Minimum Qualificiations
- Must meet initial employment requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions
- Must be physically fit to perform the above job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation
- Ability to operate typewriter, calculator, computer, and reproduction machines
- Must have a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator's License
- All qualifications, work history, training, and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least one year experience in related work or equivalent
- Must have relevant experience operating a Forklift. This experience can be gained from the following sources:
- Recent work experience, within the last five years, which included assignments involving forklift operation as a significant part of the job, OR
- Successful completion, within the last two years, of the Texas State Technical College's Forklift Training course
- Successfully complete a Reading Comprehension Assessment
- Successfully complete an Accuracy Assessment
- Successfully complete a Self-Assessment*
