What You'll Do
- The candidate will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the hazardous energy control (lockout) process such as planning walkdowns, document reviews, document management, implementation, closeout, database management, and audits.
- The candidate will be responsible for interpreting and decision making related to hazardous energy control program directives. Must be able to communicate and coordinate across multiple organizations including Infrastructure, Engineering, Operations, Production, Projects and Safety and Industrial Hygiene in order to assess and mitigate hazardous energies and to provide personnel protection controls in support of work tasks.
- Responsibilities also include coaching employees and/or supervisors on the process, performing management assessments, observations, and gathering information necessary to write and revise technical information regarding hazardous energy control procedures in accordance with established requirements (such as configuration management and principles of technical writing). The candidate will participate in outage planning meetings plus critiques, cause analysis and other mandatory meetings involving hazardous energy control incidents.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in manufacturing facilities is desired as well as the ability to read blueprints/schematic drawings

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years.
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years.
- PhD: No experience required.
- Applicants with a high school diploma or equivalent may be considered on an exceptional basis with 12 or more years of relevant experience.

- The candidate must be familiar with the regulatory requirements associated with hazardous energy control procedures and must determine the technical requirements that apply to the process by examining:
- DOE Orders, Guides, and Standards
- Hazard Analysis documents
- OSHA and NFPA 70E Regulations
- Specifications or other requirements documents

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
