What You'll Do
- Establish methods and instrumentation suitable for monitoring of workplace environments.
- Direct monitoring of workplace environments after assessing processes, materials, equipment, controls and work habits of employees.
- Perform/evaluate exposure assessments.
- Determine conclusions and recommendations from assessments and monitoring.
- Make recommendations for the selection and use of engineering controls, administrative controls, and personnel protective equipment.
- Conduct hazard briefings on industrial hygiene topics.
- Review applicable regulations and maintain written work procedures to ensure compliance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain industrial hygiene programs.
- Perform advanced assignments in technical processes.
- Participate in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
- Support, direct, and/or evaluate the design of software, tooling and equipment for assigned programs that may involve experimental, normal, or safety-related production activities.
- Oversee development and implementation of development and research projects designed for improvements in industrial hygiene processes and programs.
- Oversee the use and approval processes for industrial hygiene equipment and instrumentation.
- Develop, process, and implement industrial hygiene related training.
- Act as the document custodian for S&IH procedures and requirements documents.
- Support review, flow down, and appropriate implementation of Lessons Learned for industrial hygiene processes.
- Assist with maintaining metrics for S&IH and perform analysis of performance via such metrics.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry or another related scientific discipline with a minimum 7 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 10 to 15 years.
- Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry or another related scientific discipline with a minimum 6 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 10 to 15 years.
- PhD in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry or another related scientific discipline with a minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Preferred Job Requirements

- Working knowledge of OSHA and DOE safety & health regulations
- Working knowledge of NIOSH and OSHA sampling methods and associated equipment/instrumentation

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
