What You'll Do
- Responsible for establishing and managing the activities of all assigned phases of Maintenance to ensure efficient and timely completion of assigned maintenance and inspection activities on nuclear explosives facilities
- Performs duties with opportunity for exercise of initiative, independent judgment and discretion under limited supervision and is accountable for the results of the actions taken by subordinates
- Assigns work and tasks to subordinates by specifying task parameters, i.e. quality, quantity, resources and expected completion time
- Responsible for ensuring proper alignment of subordinate roles through personal effectiveness appraisals and the effective delegation of work through the supervision and evaluation of proposed role changes that will facilitate accomplishment of assigned work
- Responsible for the development of individuals in roles to ensure technical competence and a thorough understanding of safety, quality and security aspects of the job by formulating tasks that are within an appropriate range of complexity and by scheduling individuals for additional training when appropriate
- Responsible for developing plans to achieve tasks and goals and adhering to these plans in establishing the limits within which the subordinates' tasks must be accomplished
- Estimates manpower needs and schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications
- Establishes schedules, makes policy interpretations, completes budget reports, reviews/coordinates subordinates output, and manages staff assignments to meet the Plant's goals and objectives
- Accountable for all direct output assigned and for providing direct output support to his/her manager
- Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, Corporate and Plant rules, regulations and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures
- Responsible for application of established personnel and operating policies and programs, including Union Agreements, employee concerns, discipline processes, and safety, health and security standards
- Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2), and Management
- Facilitates and supports all plant safety initiatives and provides instruction in safety awareness and provides training while resolving issues and concerns within the organization
- Ensures that a feedback loop is maintained to communicate answers to issues, concerns and lessons learned in accordance with Integrated Safety Management (ISM) principals
- Ensures worker involvement in work planning, and determination of hazards and control in accordance with ISM principals
- Respects worker right to stop work when they feel their personal safety is jeopardized and take responsibility to resolve the concern.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience. Minimum 3 years of relevant supervisory/ management experience. (See Note 3)
- Staff with high school diplomas may be considered on an exceptional basis if they have more years of relevant experience. Typically, each year of college education is equal to two years of experience.
- Supervisor/management experience may be obtained through a combination of:
- Directly supervising people
- Managing programs/projects that require leading diverse teams with job responsibilities including hiring personnel, giving performance feedback, personnel goal setting and/or mentoring/coaching. Note: Will be reviewed for relevancy toward the management experience requirement.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2)

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
