What You'll Do
As a Payroll Specialist, you will perform accounting tasks associated with employee work time and payroll, providing operations and customer support. Maintains records that comply with federal and state laws, company policies and procedures, and the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration policies. Responsibilities include compilation, analysis, and reconciliation of data using standard accounting practices and utilizing various computer programs and data files. Reviews and analyzes data by payroll period, week-to-week, bi-weekly, or an annual basis. Maintains subsidiary accounting records and provides summary accounting data. Conducts special studies as requested by management.
Major duties include:
- Researching reported payroll issues and collaborating with others as needed to provide timely resolution. Other duties include reporting, maintaining databases, input and maintenance of master data and payroll data for processing, and the preparation of various reports. Individual will also need to possess excellent communications skills in order to assist employees with their timekeeping, absence, and payroll questions.
- Understand the operations and requirements of the business area to determine how to configure SAP to support the business area and to coordinate the information technology with the business objectives
- Understand the operations and requirements of the business area to determine procedures to improve the efficiency of the business area represented
- Assist the Controller organization in use of the business system to reconcile General Ledger Accounts monthly
- Initiate, maintain, and implement fraud prevention monitoring and/or analytics within the Controller organization

- Master's degree: No experience.
- Eight or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
