We are seeking a compassionate and organized Veterinary Assistant/ Receptionist to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for pet owners and their beloved animals, providing exceptional customer service while ensuring a smooth operation within the veterinary clinic. You will play a crucial role in managing appointments, handling inquiries, and supporting our veterinary staff in delivering high-quality care to pets.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently.
- Answer phone calls and respond to client inquiries regarding services, procedures, and pet care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update information as needed.
- Process payments and manage billing inquiries with attention to detail.
- Assist veterinary technicians with patient intake and preparation for examinations.
- Provide information to clients about medication administration, pet care practices, and follow-up instructions.
- Ensure the hospital is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to enhance client experience and animal welfare.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with clients and staff.
- Experience in animal husbandry and pet care practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to handle animals safely using proper animal restraint techniques.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols for pets.
- Proficient in cat and dog handling skills to assist during appointments or procedures.
- Experience working in a kennel or similar environment is beneficial.
- Basic laboratory skills for assisting with diagnostic tests may be required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
