Front Load/Roll Off/Swing Garbage Truck Driver

We are looking for a veteran Driver with Waste Industry Expieience capable of operating refuse collection vehicles Front End/Roll Off and able to cover overnight shifts on pre-assigned and special routes. Must be able to drive a manual 8/10 speed transmission with no CDL restrictions. Must be capable of operating heavy duty collection vehicles and preparing, loading, and transporting large containers and compactors. Roll-Off Drivers must be capable of navigating narrow spaces, roadways, alleys, driveways and perform skilled maneuvers to deliver and receive containers. We are looking for a dedicated candidate to join our team and successfully perform these duties. Responsibilities
- Ability to safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste
- Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
- Regularly deliver and empty large containers for our commercial customers
- Maneuver truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors to back up
- Regularly open enclosure doors to access containers
- Roll 2-4 yard containers on castors weighing up to 600 pounds into position for emptying
- Ensure enclosures are free of loose trash before replacing containers
- Courteously interact with customers and/or the general public along the route to answer questions or politely directs them to contact Customer Service or Sales Representative for additional information
- Notifies supervisor of issues requiring management action
- Uses a keymap and GPS to locate service addresses
- Follows safe operating practices, including policies and procedures to ensure proper operation of the truck and the safety of others.
- Maintains clean truck and washes exterior weekly
- Clean truck daily ensuring it is free of loose trash and packer blade is free of waste
- Inspect truck (Lift and inspect under the hood, walk around and check undercarriage; pump gas, check fluid levels and air tires - Uses air gauge, dipstick for levels, and gas pump nozzle for gas fill)
- Use and operate technology and programs used by the company (tablets, computers, GPS systems, etc.)
- Complete Route sheet, records mileage, fuel consumption, logbook (as required), vehicle condition reports, and other forms.
- Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications
- Conversational fluency in written and spoken English is REQUIRED
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Spanish fluency is an additional asset
- Hold a current Class A or B Commercial Drivers License with air brake endorsement
- Must be available to work day shifts
