Executive Medical Director - GP/Urgent Care – Culver City & West Los Angeles
Papaya Veterinary Care is looking for an Executive Medical Director for our brand-new GP/Urgent Care hospitals in Culver City and West Los Angeles.
The Executive Medical Director is the key leader of each hospital and will partner with the Hospital Manager
to grow and manage each practice. We're seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Medical Director to lead and launch two state-of-the-art veterinary hospitals in Los Angeles. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape our medical culture and build our practices from the ground up.

Our two hospitals are located in the westside neighborhoods of Culver City and Sawtelle. Each is specifically designed with a spacious lobby designed for comfort of those waiting, urgent care triage, dental suite and a surgery suite with two tables each, a doctor’s office, and spacious break room for staff to put up their feet. Our Culver City hospital is 4000 and our West Los Angeles hospital is 3600.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In addition to leadership duties, the Executive Medical Director will also be a practicing veterinarian.
Mentoring and development of DVM staff for a GP/UC veterinary hospital.
Support and partner with Hospital Manager in the recruiting, hiring, training and development of
hospital staff and new hospital opening training.
Foster an environment of responsibility and resilience.
Participate in Executive Medical Director meetings.
Champion and provide timely feedback on Papaya initiatives and programs that impact hospital operations. Provide constructive feedback to improve future iterations.
Actively participate in leadership training.
Fosters a culture of friendly client service. Engage with staff and clients in a friendly and approachable manner.
Develop and drive hospital standards of care.
In partnership with the Hospital Manager, develop and execute hospital strategic plan to achieve key growth targets, manage expenses and drive business to meet budgetary goals.
In partnership with Hospital Manager develop hospital specific SOPs
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum of 6 years in practice
Minimum of 1 year management experience with experience in P&L
Ability and willingness to see Urgent Care cases
Valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of California
Ability to mentor and train associate veterinarians in every facet of their job
Willing and able to work in an ever-changing environment
