Job Description:
The Surveyor in Training works directly with a Registered Land Surveyor in the preparation of various survey projects, such as boundary surveys, subdivision plats, construction calculations, topographic and route projects.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of a Registered Land Surveyor, provide technical support for assigned projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Complete detailed drawings from field survey data, sketches, plans, specifications, and written or verbal instructions using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Review work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting to the R.P.L.S. for review.
- Prepare drawings and/or copy existing drawings and complete simple calculations with specific instructions.
- Conduct fieldwork upon request.
- Assist with deed research, abstract deeds, create base maps for field crews, process field crew data, and produce final drawings.
- Process acquired field data into a neat and accurate plat of survey and/or Metes and Bounds description.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Certification as a Surveyor in Training in the state of employment.
- Working knowledge of MicroStation is a plus.
- Ability to analyze survey data and provide direction to field crews as needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain professional relationships.
- Capability to work effectively in both team environments and independently.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project deadlines.
- Ability to handle basic issues and recognize when more complex issues need to be referred to higher-level staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Dependable and reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with overtime as needed.
