As a key member of a survey crew, the Rodman provides essential support to ensure the successful completion of land surveying projects under the direction of the Party Chief.
Responsibilities
- Clear brush and obstacles to maintain line of sight.
- Carry and set up equipment, such as rods, tripods, and prisms, for staking and measurement.
- Load and unload survey equipment and supplies for job assignments.
- Maintain survey supplies, such as nails, paint, rods, and flags, ensuring the crew is prepared for daily tasks.
- Gather supplies, dig for corners, and cut lines.
- Search for and correctly identify monuments.
- Plumb prisms to ensure accurate measurements.
- Measure distances using chains, tape, or other methods.
- Clean and maintain survey equipment.
- Complete other tasks related to field surveying as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED certification required.
- 0-2 years of experience in land surveying or a related field.
- Ability to grasp basic surveying concepts and techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
- Ability to follow directions from supervisors and work collaboratively with engineering staff and management.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and terrains for extended periods.
- Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment weighing up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Demonstrated dependability, reliability, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
