The Project Engineer will play a crucial role in planning, developing, coordinating, and managing onsite construction engineering activities for concrete, underground utilities, paving, and heavy civil construction projects.
This individual must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment, with some night and weekend work required. They will serve as the primary liaison between field operations and central accounting, ensuring accurate timekeeping procedures and complete job cost accounting and reporting.
The Project Engineer will also work closely with Area and Project Superintendents to develop short-term working schedules, track material needs and availability, and document quantities and field measurements for progress payment purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors and other forces
- Act as primary liaison between field operations and central accounting department
- Work with Area and Project Superintendents to develop short-term working schedules
- Track and document quantities and field measurements for progress payment purposes
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Process and track all submittals
- Process Requests for Information (RFI)
- Submit Staking Requests
- Prepare traffic control plans and schedule weekly lane closures
- Perform Takeoffs for plan changes
Requirements:
- Strong experience with highway type construction
- A valid driver's license and acceptable MVR
- Ability to read and interpret construction contracting/bidding documents, materials, and drawings
- Forensic levels of attention to detail, organized, and able to meet stringent deadlines
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
- Excellent reading comprehension – strategic highlighting / parsing
- Credible public speaking ability
