Kitchen Manager I - Ashbury Elementary School 5 hours per day / 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM / Monday - Friday Position Overview : The Kitchen Manager I is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of an elementary school or central kitchen. This involves producing attractive and nutritious meals for students and staff. Qualifications : A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with current certification by the American School Food Service Association preferred. Experience : Two years of work experience in an institutional or school kitchen, with progressive responsibility and supervisory experience, are necessary. Approved educational course work in food service supervision or a related field may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis. General computer experience is also preferred. Essential Requirements : The successful candidate will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, students, school staff, and the general public. They must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Additionally, they will need to effectively supervise employees, perform basic mathematical calculations, operate a computer, cashier terminal, PIN pad, and calculator, and maintain detailed records as required by regulatory agencies. A working knowledge of the sanitation, safety, and meal requirements of the Nebraska Department of Health and the United States Department of Agriculture School Lunch Program and Food Distribution Program is essential.
