Essential Functions of the Position:
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service, including handling difficult situations and resolving customer concerns, with supervisor assistance as needed.
- Follow approved procedures for receiving, pricing, and stocking products to ensure accuracy, quality, and proper rotation.
- Prepare, package, and serve a variety of prepared foods.
- Maintain a clean, attractive, and friendly department to ensure a positive image for customers.
- Maintain inventory control to ensure freshness, product quality, and turnover, minimizing out-of-stock or overstocked items.
- Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy to control the level of damaged goods.
- Maintain clean and organized eating, serving, food preparation areas, and utensils and equipment, ensuring following sanitation, health, and safety standards.
- Ensure quality standards by following the FIFO (First In, First Out) methodology.
- Follow strict sanitation and food safety guidelines to maintain a clean and hygienic cooking environment.
- Perform Cook I and other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in basic math and cash handling procedures.
- Understanding of customer service best practices and strategies to enhance customer engagement.
- Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to ensure food safety.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Ability to operate POS systems and other cashier equipment.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in transactions and handling of cash.
- Basic computer skills for operating the POS system.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations, manage multiple demands, and work effectively with diverse personalities.
- Aptitude for making informed decisions quickly, often in high-pressure environments.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
- Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
- Exhibit manual dexterity for handling money and operating POS systems, including 10-key adding machines and self-checkout (SCO) systems.
- Utilize cash handling tools, including counterfeit bill detection pens and equipment.
- Working in a hot environment due to fryers, stoves, ovens, and other cooking equipment. Ability to tolerate variations in temperature and handle hot items safely.
- Good vision to ensure the quality and appearance of dishes and read labels.
- Maintain clear communication with customers and team members.
- Move quickly and efficiently to assist customers and manage workload.
- Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Work Hours: Vary, with availability required on weekends, evenings, and holidays; typically, 8-hour shifts for full-time employees.
- Environment:
- Indoor, climate-controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation.
- Exposure to hot temperatures from fryers, stoves, ovens, and warmers, as well as cooler temperatures in refrigerated areas and freezers.
- Food Handling: Regularly handling various food products may involve exposure to allergens.
- Dress Code: Professional and presentable attire as determined by store management, including a name tag, company-issued shirts, hats, jackets, or personal shirts that are black, burgundy, or blue, in good repair, and not faded.
- Use approved hats or hair nets.
- Wear safety toes and non-slip shoes.
- Exposure: May be exposed to moving mechanical parts. Exposure to hot, wet, damp, and slippery conditions. Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Noise Level: Working in an environment with moderate to high noise levels from mixers, ovens, and other cooking equipment.
- Interaction: Constant interaction with customers and team members in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided. Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.
