Job Summary:
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for assisting in preparing and processing the company's payroll, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees while complying with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. This role involves maintaining payroll records, processing payroll adjustments, and responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Assist in processing employee payroll, including reviewing time sheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
Proactively maintain and update employee HR and Payroll records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with legal requirements.
Audit payroll processing reports for errors and make necessary adjustments or corrections.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, tax issues, benefit deductions, and other pay-related questions.
Work closely with HR and finance departments to enforce payroll policies and procedures.
Accurately balance payroll runs to ensure correct employee compensation.
Manage and document records related to vacation, sick leave, and other types of leave, providing clear and accessible reports for management and employees.
Coordinate the distribution of paychecks, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to all employees.
Process termination checks by company policies and legal requirements, ensuring affected employees receive accurate final wages promptly.
Issue manual checks as needed, addressing exceptional payroll circumstances with accuracy and efficiency.
Perform thorough payroll reconciliation and timesheet auditing to identify and correct discrepancies and maintain the integrity of payroll processing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and MS Office (Excel, Word).
Up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards.
Skills:

Work Hours: Typically, Monday to Friday, at least 8 hours daily, with occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:
