Paradie & Rabasco, P.A., is seeking a full-time litigation associate attorney to join our busy litigation firm in Lewiston, Maine. Our firm is involved in a wide array of criminal and civil litigation matters in federal and state courts and administrative agencies. The associate attorney will work primarily in the areas of criminal defense, family law, and civil litigation. The firm’s ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials and practical experience in litigation. The candidate must have at least 1-2 years of litigation experience. The candidate should have prior experience with motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation and participation. Responsibilities include day-to-day handling of all litigation work in a high volume practice. The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with our client base. Additional requirements include the ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent research and writing skills are also a must.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Analyze and investigate litigation matters
· Develop arguments (including researching applicable caselaw)
· Assist in all phases of litigation including arguing and defending motions, taking and defending depositions, and participation at trial
· Attend client meetings, court proceedings including motion hearings, trials, sentencings, emergency bail hearings and more
· Prepare and review motions, briefs, and discovery
· Report to partners and clients regarding case status
· Establish an independent caseload in addition to working on other cases at the firm
· Establish a professional rapport with all clients
REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s and Juris Doctorate
· License to practice law in Maine/ Active member in good standing with Maine State Bar
· 1-2 years litigation experience
· Excellent organizational skills
· Proactive mindset with a proven ability to work independently
· High level of professionalism and outstanding interpersonal skills
