We are seeking a Corporate Accounting Associate to support the accounting department. You will perform tasks that assist the senior accounting staff with various day-to-day accounting, compliance, audit, and financial reporting functions for a portfolio of properties. This role involves maintaining accounting records, preparing monthly reports, and recording recurring and non-standard journal entries. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

What The Corporate Accounting Associate Will Be Doing

• Record the necessary banking activity to maintain both manual and in-system check registers for a portfolio of properties.
• Prepare a draft of the monthly bank account reconciliations for review by senior accounting staff.
• Work with on-site and senior accounting staff to gather and sort underlying documents associated with discrepancies with the application of resident receipts, vendor disputes, and assorted banking activity.
• Review weekly accounts payable and confirm the sufficiency of funds available to meet AP processing needs.
• Monitor the review of monthly vendor payment details with management personnel to ensure proper GL coding according to budgets. Prepare any necessary reclass journal entries, as requested by management, for approval by a Senior Accountant.
• Provide AP compliance support, if needed.
• Assist with maintaining the vendor database, including obtaining W-9s and other related information.
• Assist with reviewing monthly property close reports, prepare quarterly and annual sales and use tax returns, and assist in the preparation of year-end vendor 1099 reports.
  
  

What The Corporate Accounting Associate Will Need To Succeed

• A college degree or accounts payable experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of general administrative office experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in supporting multiple projects and people.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
