About The Position
We are looking for a dedicated Architectural Designer who will work closely with our company’s Lead Architect and business partner to create top notch residential architectural plans. This means approaching each design with an eye for detail and innovation while keeping in mind the objectives, limitations, and the specific conceptual guidelines of each build. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting plan sets and navigating the approval process with the City of Austin from start to finish as well as collaborating with the interior design and construction teams to further the design and build process. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working alone and within a team, be open to critical feedback and look for opportunities to innovate, as well as have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in analyzing the feasibility and design potential of a given lot
- Prepare all aspects of construction plan sets and take them through the permitting process
- Participate in City of Austin permitting meetings with reviewers
- Present designs and offer feedback and solutions to meet objectives
- Collaborate with in-house interior designers and outside consultants
- Manage and implement design file changes to ensure the latest plans and specs are accessible to all necessary project stakeholders
Requirements:
- A friendly approachable personality, with a positive attitude, open mindset, and willingness to be adaptable
- 1-2 years of experience designing residential architecture
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field such as engineering
- A fundamental knowledge base of wood framing/residential construction
- Proficiency in AutoCad and Sketchup
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem solving skills.
- The ability to be a take initiative and work independently as well as be a collaborative team player
