The Role – Pet Care Associate
Let’s put it all out there. Working in an environment that provides care to furry loved ones 365 days a year can be tough and relentless. Our expectations are high, and we mean way up there, our customers expect no less from us and we expect no less from ourselves. Is this a mission impossible? No, we have been there and done that for 12 years. If you are up for the challenge read on.
- Do you like to switch it up? That is perfect. We’re looking for individuals that can work morning, midday, early evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- What's it like in the dog house? Just imagine having a hundred two-year-olds, but ours have teeth and claws! Playgroup supervision requires a firm but loving leader, a multi-tasker, and someone who is on their toes, and always observant.
- Cleaning, who needs it? We do! Our team does it all and the work is never quite done; laundry, dishes, scrubbing, mopping, scooping, sweeping, and dusting. No speck of dirt is too small, it is a dirty job, but someone needs to do it.
- Have you always wanted to captain the Starship Enterprise? Well, we don’t have that here, but we do have a command center called the front office. It requires a level head, exceptional customer service skills, and a calm, cool, and collected individual to steer this ship. Kidding aside, it's tons of computers, phones, customers, and paperwork (magic wand provided).
- It is not a secret; our employees are our “secret” sauce. We have a diverse high-functioning team with a “family feel” culture. If you prefer not to work with a team, we're not the right place for you.
- Lastly, do you care about ALL the details? If so, that is good because we have a ton of them. We’re not over here moving packages on an assembly line; this is living beings we’re talking about. Taking care of our pets, team, and customers is essential. No detail is too big or small. We take safety, cleanliness, supervision, and care seriously.
- Other duties as assigned…after all this is just a job posting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school graduate or GED.
- Knowledge of dog behavior, training techniques, and common medical conditions is highly preferred. This can be through formal training or experience working with a rescue group, humane society, veterinary clinic, or other pet care professional setting.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with our team, customers, and pets.
- Ability to move objects and animals weighing up to one hundred pounds for short distances.
- Comfort and ability to work with animals of unknown disposition and those with medical problems.
- Allergies that are aggravated when handling or working with animals, may be a disqualification.
- Valid driver’s license.
